SUBMIT A PROPOSAL

Submit a Proposal for the 2023 ICTE Conference

As we reclaim pre-pandemic joys, such as in-person conferences, the ICTE invites educators of all levels to submit proposals for the annual spring conference of the NCTE state affiliate. This year’s theme, Reclaiming Teacher Joy, celebrates the practices, activities, and pedagogy that spark joy in you, in your students, and even in your broader school community.

Marie Kondo, of Netflix’s Tidying Up and “spark joy” fame, suggests that in a moment of joy, “every part or cell of your body lifts up little by little.” So, we want to hear about the teaching strategies, methods, skills, texts, topics, and content-specific materials that lift up you and your students.

What practice has been the most joyful for your teaching? What classroom activities spark joy in your students? What keeps you joyful and excited about teaching or about being a literacy educator? Consider drafting a conference proposal that showcases your favorite resource, practice, or curricula to support other teachers in making literacy learning a joyful experience for students.

This is YOUR time to shine -- we want YOU to share the amazing things you do in your classroom!

As you draft your proposal, please choose one of the following formats:

  • Panel Presentation: 50-minute session featuring two or more speakers who will engage the audience around a common theme or question, leaving at least 10 minutes for audience questions and responses.

  • Workshop: 50-minute interactive session led by one or more speakers who will engage attendees in activities around a central topic, question, or theme.

  • Individual Presentation: 20-minute presentation led by one speaker; individual presentations will be paired by level, topic, or theme to make up one 50-minute session.

Please submit your proposal that identifies which type of session you are proposing and that clearly explains how your session relates to the theme Reclaiming Teacher Joy .  All proposals should include some element of interaction with session attendees.  Please submit your proposal that identifies which type of session you are proposing and that clearly explains its relation to the theme Reclaiming Teacher Joy.  Proposals will be blinded and reviewed by the Proposal Review Committee.
